General Motors Recalls 23,500 Corvettes Due To Fuel Leak

Automotive giant General Motors (GM) is recalling more than 23,500 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles in the U.S over a fuel leak issue. The recall was announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which oversees vehicle safety in America. According to the recall notice, fuel could spill into the pocket around the gas cap while refueling the Corvettes, which could then leak onto an ignition source such as a hot engine or exhaust, causing a fire. General Motors has already reported four alleged fires that occurred because of the fuel leak. As a remedy, GM dealers will install a shield to divert spilled fuel, said the NHTSA. The recall affects Corvette models from 2023 to 2025, as well its convertible and coupe variations from 2026, according to the report. Owners of impacted cars will be contacted by General Motors and directed to a dealership where they can get the needed repair done. GM stock has risen 14% this year to trade at $58.28 U.S. per share.
